Education:

BS in English, Secondary Education from Appalachian State in 2005; Master of Arts in Middle Grades Education from Appalachian State in 2008; Math, Science, and Literacy Program from East Tennessee State 2016,

Currently pursuing an Environmental Educator Certification through the NC Environmental Educator Program.

 

Lauren comes to NGFS with ten years of experience teaching in North Carolina Public Schools and two years teaching in Tennessee Public Schools. she began teaching the interim biology position at NGFS in 2018 before moving into the position of Middle School science teacher.

She is most excited about getting to know her students and school family. She looks forward to becoming more involved in her hometown community through our strong stewardship program here at NGFS. She also excited to share her passion for science and the environment with her students.

Lauren loves to hang out with her family which includes her husband Matthew, two sons Slade and Asa, and her two dogs and one cat. In her free time, she loves to go hiking with her family. She also loves to bake, write, garden, and craft.
